Afro-American Studies Library Collection
The Department of Afro-American Studies houses an extensive collection of books, recorded materials, and videos related to all areas of African American Studies. The non-circulating library is available for use by faculty, graduate students in relevant disciplines, undergraduate majors, and undergraduates enrolled in Afro-American Studies courses. The library of published materials features extensive holdings from the collections of our late colleagues Tom Wing Shick and Nellie McKay with special strengths in Black Women’s Studies, Civil Rights History, and African American Music. The CD collection spans the history of African American music, with special strengths in jazz, soul and hip-hop of the 1970s and 1980s.
